A lawyer representing PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali has denied that the person in the latest sex video is his client.
Asmuni Awi, who heads the firm of Awi and Co, told Malaysiakinithat he had just been appointed by Mustafa to represent him.
“This is a pure slander campaign by Umno. We do not suspect anyone else but the work of Umno.
“My client denies it. The video suddenly appeared,” said the lawyer from Perak.
Asmuni (left) warned that his client would not hesitate to take action on the producer or blogger who uploaded such images.
“If we know who the producer is, we will certainly take legal action,” he said.
Mustafa had meanwhile, issued a one-paragraph statement saying that he would not entertain any queries regarding the said issue.
“I have allowed my lawyer from Awi & Co to handle it,” he told party mouthpiece Harakah in an SMS.

Police deny arrests over VCD distribution
Meanwhile, Bernama reported that police have denied reports of the arrests of two PKR Youth members in Besut, Terengganu over the alleged distribution of VCDs purportedly of the senior opposition leader.
State CID chief K Manoharan said there have been been no arrests made and police investigations into the matter are still ongoing.
“I confirmed the seizure of 16 discs purportedly of a senior opposition leader in Besut,” he said.
The news agency also reported that police would cooperate with the Malaysian Communication and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to probe the images and videos of the opposition leader being put up on several social network sites.
Bukit Aman public relations chief Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf was asked this upon on commenting on the visuals which appeared in the compact discs, saying they were brought to the Besut district police station for further investigation.
“Investigations would be done from various aspects,” said Ramli, who warned that action can be taken against those found distributing the video.
Images and video purportedly of the PAS leader have been spotted in several pro-Umno blogs since yesterday evening, while several media, including The Star and Utusan Malaysia today reported that the video has appeared in several blogs.

The blogger even alleged that several PKR Youth members were arrested for distributing the VCD in Terengganu, despite police denying so.
It was also reported today that PKR vice-president N Surendran (above) and its Youth chief Shamsul Iskandar Mohd Akin denied the party's involvement in the video as suggested by the bloggers.
They described attempts to link the video to PKR as absurd and aimed at splitting the opposition coalition.

Meanwhile, PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang was quoted in The Staras saying that the party will not convene a special meeting to discuss the sex video.
Abdul Hadi also said he does not believe the man in the video was a PAS leader.
“Go ahead, spread it. It will only enhance the party when people know it is not true. We do not regard this as a big matter, as people know the party,” the PAS president was quoted to have said.
Bernama also quoted the PAS president as saying the matter was defamatory and not true. “The more widely they publish the video, the more rewards (pahala) the alleged victim will get,” he told reporters in his hometown in Rusila.
