The DAP’s Puchong MP incumbent Gobind Singh Deo reminded Vell Paari the latter had previously threatened to quit the MIC and campaign for the opposition Pakatan Rakyat (PR) pact to prove he would not tolerate racial and religious hardliners who had made insensitive remarks against the Indian community.
“The MIC and all BN candidates must make a stand. Do they support Zulkifli’s candidacy and the prime minister’s choice for Shah Alam?” he asked in a statement today.
He pointed out that even after Vell Paari’s threat, BN chairman Datuk Seri Najib Razak still named Zulkifli, who is Perkasa vice-president of Perkasa as his “transformation candidate” for the capital of Malaysia’s wealthiest state, Selangor.
The Malay group is notorious for its conservative position when it came to Malay and Islamic issues.
“It cannot blow hot and cold, and ask Malaysians to now support BN,” Gobind said.
