Rafidah: Changing gov't not like changing boyfriend
Former Wanita Umno chief Rafidah Aziz today cautioned the voters not to treat changing a government like changing a car, boyfriend or girlfriend.
The country need a strong government to rule, and it’s not easy to deliver and develop the country, she said.
"(So) please don’t say, 'Never mind, change'. Oh my God! This is not like changing a car, boyfriend or girlfriend," she told the media after attending the Umno supreme council meeting in Kuala Lumpur this morning.
The Kuala Kangsar MP said that the country will be heading in the wrong direction if we made a wrong decision.
Rafidah (left) reiterated that she will not contest in this general election, as she served as an MP for 37 years and needed to give way.
"Every politician should realise, when you have climbed the peak, you should give way," she said, adding she had done her bit in contributing to the country.
She emphasised that it was she herself who had expressed her intention to retire, and not others who brought up the issue.
Rafidah said she foresees that sabotage might happen after the candidates have been announced.
"Yes, (there will be sabotage) as they are just human beings, but this also happens in every party, even the opposition.
"But if you fail to be a candidate, never mind if you don’t help and work, but don’t sabotage, just stay home and sleep," she advised.
