Ridzwan admits giving aid to another ‘Sultan Sulu’

KUALA LUMPUR, April 1 – Al-Ehsan Islamiah charity foundation president Datuk Seri Muhammad Ridzwan Sulaiman claimed Jamalul Kiram is not  the real descendants of Sulu Sultan.

Muhammad Ridzwan was detained today under Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 over possible links to the Lahad Datu intrusion by Sulu gunmen.

He said Muedzul Lail Tan Kiram is the genuine Sultan Sulu as Muedzul is the  offspring of the last Sultan Sulu which is recognised by the Philippines government.

Muhammad Ridzwan also admitted he gave aid to him (Muedzul Lail Tan Kiram), however, he did not elaborate on it.

“Based on recognition given by the Philippines government to the Sultan Sulu, my organisation has provided financial assistance to him.

“I have been to Jolo Island in the southern Philippines three times and based on posters with his face on every corner of the street and the reaction by the local community there, it clearly shows he (Muedzul Lail) is the child of the last Sultan Sulu.

“I brought a yellow book and cheque as a proof of transaction to the police I don’t know who is Jamalul Kiram ,” he told reporters here, today.

Muhammad Ridzwan said on his first encounter with Muedzul Lail, he was informed by him (Muedzul Lail), the descendants of Sulu Sultan could not claim Sabah from Malaysia via several letters and documentations shown to him.

When asked on the Sabah lease agreement which will expires in 2015 and the Sulu men intruders wanted to renew the agreement as alleged by some quarters he stressed: “It is not true, the then Sultan Sulu did not created any agreement and no time frame were given on the lease agreement.”

“Sultan Sulu back then (believed to be in the 1800s), hands over Sabah to the British for development,” he said.

Yesterday, Sabah Police Commissioner Datuk Hamza Taib said Muhammad Ridzwan is high on the police’s wanted list. However, he is not involved with terrorists but can assist investigation in connection with Operation Daulat. – Bernama
