Azmin calls Zahid 'arrogant and stupid'

PKR deputy president Azmin Ali today lambasted newly appointed Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi for suggesting that those unhappy with the electoral system to migrate.

In a press release today, Azmin said that Ahmad Zahid's statement had proved that Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak's so-called transformation plans were a "colossal sham".

"Is this Najib’s way of showcasing his so-called ‘new transformation cabinet’?

NONE"Well done, Zahid! By taking this high and mighty position as your first proclamation of ministerial power, you’ve shown both arrogance and stupidity.

"We have no problem or quarrel with the country as this is our land. It’s yours too but don’t talk like only you and Umno own it. All of us anak Malaysia own it and we are loyal to Agong and country," said Azmin.
Azmin said that the people of Malaysia have a constitutional right to express their disappointment and anger over an election that was not clean and fair.

"We’re not talking about electoral flaws here and there. We’re looking at systemic fraud committed on a massive scale.

"Of course, we’re not that naive to think that you or Najib or the rest of your Umno colleagues will ever own up but the very least is that you either engage constructively or just shut up," he said.
Zahid clueless on Westminster system

Azmin was referring to Ahmad Zahid's article which appeared inUtusan Malaysia on May 16, where he spoke at lenght on how the electoral system was fair.

Azmin said that Ahmad Zahid appears to be oblivious to the true workings of the Westminster system.

azlanHe said that in this system, there will be no "phantom voters", or lights going off in when the vote-counting takes place. He added that the Westminster system presupposes a free and fair press.

Most importantly, Azmin said that such a system, while allowing for re-delineation of electoral boundaries, do not allow for gerrymandering.

"The kind and scale of gerrymandering that has been done to the electoral constituencies by Umno-BN for the past five decades has made a complete mockery of the Westminster system of democracy," he said.
In his article, Ahmad Zahid argued that the Westminster system uses a first-past-the-post system which does not take the popular vote into account.
