Muhyiddin wants police to probe ‘Malaysian Spring’ allegation
“This allegation surfaced on blog sites and spread via text messages, claiming that if Pakatan were defeated at the polls, they will take to the street.
“Maybe this place is the starting point, I do not know. It seems they have predicted the outcome of the election, but what is feared they want to create chaos and will not accept the decision made by the people.
“So, I hope the authorities will investigate the matter and the inspector-general of police should look into the allegation. I hope this is not true. But if it is true, the police must get to the bottom of it,” he told reporters after handing over letters of offer and house keys to owners of Rumah Mesra Rakyat 1Malaysia (RR1M) in Kampung Renchong here today.
According to several blog posts, the multicoloured flags were allegedly said to represent youth wings of Pakatan Rakyat who would converge at the focal point to start the ‘Malaysian Spring’ on Sunday afternoon if the election results were not in their favour.
It is a copycat attempt to topple the government similar to public uprising that swept several West Asian countries which had been dubbed the Arab Spring.
Muhyiddin said the bid to take down the government through uprising would be harmful to the country for the Barisan Nasional (BN) had always respected the people’s decision at the polls.
“When we suffered a debacle in several states, including Selangor before, the transition of power (in these states) was carried out smoothly and orderly. There was no protest or demonstration, this is our culture.
“I hope they will deny this. If they deny it, that’s good, otherwise what was spread through text messages is true. I am worried and scared if they were to suffer a drubbing, it will be the beginning of an upheaval in the country,” he said.
Muhyiddin said if the act was meant to scare the people from voting, it was an irresponsible act.
Calling on the people to come out in full force to vote for their security is rest assured, he said the BN would not create trouble for if was rich in experience and love the country and would not tarnish its image.
