Nurul queries Nong Chik's role in RM475mil deal

KUALA LUMPUR PKR's Lembah Pantai parliamentary candidate Nurul Izzah Anwar is wondering about incumbent Federal Territories and Urban Well-being Minister Raja Nong Chik Zainal Abidin's role in the sale of a 12 acre piece of prime land in Bukit Kiara.

NONEShe said the land - one of the remaining green lungs in the capital - was transferred from Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to the Raja Nong Chik (Right) chaired Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan late last year.

Later, she claimed, the land was given to a private company, which then again sold to a well-known property development company for RM475 million.

"The sale will be finalised after the election," she told reporters at Bukit Kiara this afternoon.

Raja Nong Chik, when contacted by SMS, replied to Malaysiakini'squery that Nurul Izzah's allegation is not true.

He urged Malaysiakini to refer to the press statements from Yayasan Wilayah Persekutuan and the ministry, but did not give further details.

Malaysiakini
is withholding the name of the private company pending receiving its response.

NONENurul Izzah (left) urged her opponent to explain the mastermind behind the transfer of the 12 acre land to the company. "Did the minister give the order?" she asked.

"Who are the beneficial owners of the private company to which the land was transferred? Specifically, were the minister, minister's relatives, friends or nominees involved?"

She queried the reason behind the developers benefitting from the deal instead of local residents.

"How much is the profit earned through the sale - from which DBKL will not benefit?"

Nurul Izzah also urged those who have first-hand information to come forward and shed light on the deal.

"I vow to examine the evidence and take the necessary action should wrongdoing be found."

She also criticised the BN government for transferring cheap government land to others to make huge profits.

"It is time that these immoral and even illegal dealings stop once and for all," she added.
