Quit! Tian Chua tells EC chief

EC chairman Abdul Aziz Yusof must take responsibility and resign for the poor quality of the indelible ink, says the PKR vice-president.
PETALING JAYA: PKR vice-president Tian Chua today told Election Commission (EC) chairman Abdul Aziz Yusof to quit following reports that the indelible ink was easily delible.
“Perhaps the EC chairman [Abdul Aziz Yusof] is part of the conspirators to ensure a plan is well carried out. It is very well planned because the ink that is of high quality would last seven to 10 days.
“Even married people know that the henna used lasts at least for a week. He must take responsibility and resign,” Tian Chua said at a press conference at the PKR headquarters today morning.
The incumbent Batu MP also said that the 13th general election should be run by an independent third party instead of the EC.
“The EC has lost its credibility and is not fit to conduct the election. Pakatan Rakyat has lost confidence in the EC,” he said.
Tian Chua’s disappointment with the EC stems from the fact that there have been numerous reports involving military and police personnel who reported that the ink was delible.
“These are not isolated cases. I cannot accept EC’s excuse that indelible ink must be shaken before it is used. That is sheer nonsense.
“The EC had conducted the testing of the ink wrongly,” he said, adding that the chemical structure of indelible ink enables it to penetrate into the cell of human skin.
EC invites Pakatan for a talk
Following reports of the ink being delible, Tian Chua also questioned EC’s ability in ensuring that phantom voters would not mar the GE13.
“We do not know whether the police personnel who have already voted can return to vote again,” he said.
Tian Chua told the press that the EC seems to have admitted its mistake and has invited Pakatan for a talk tomorrow.
“I don’t know what to discuss with them but I will leave it to the party leadership to decide,” he said.
Meanwhile, at another press conference, Selangor PKR chief Zuraida Kamaruddin said that Pakatan is confident of retaining Selangor based on the support of young and female voters.
