Rally on GE13 cheating to proceed NOT ILLEGAL: Don't be fooled by rumors , it's ON TONIGHT!
UPDATE2 VIDEO INSERTED The People's Voice Rally due to be held on Wednesday night will proceed as scheduled at 8.30pm, with Pakatan Rakyat bigwigs led by Anwar Ibrahim, Lim Kit Siang and Mohamad Sabu due to address the crowd on the massive electoral fraud and irregularities they claimed had marred Malaysia's recently concluded general election.
It will also be the first public speech that Anwar will deliver to Pakatan Rakyat supporters since the May 5 election and the charismatic 64-year-old is expect to chart the Opposition's course forward.
"The gathering in protest of fraudulent election will continue. It will be held in Kelana Jaya stadium. There are rumors that the venue has been changed, that's not true. There are rumors calling people not to attend, that's an act of trying to undermine our gathering," PKR MP for Batu Tian Chua told a press conference on Tuesday.
"It is also not true that the leadership will not turn up. Anwar Ibrahim will be there, so will Lim Kit Siang and Mat Sabu."
Najib doesn't want to have his dirty linen exposed
Despite winning 52% of the popular vote as well as securing an impressive and increased haul of seats, the Pakatan parties of PKR, DAP and PAS had failed to wrest the federal government.
They blame the outcome on fraud and gerrymandering by Prime Minister Najib Razak's corruption-tainted Umno-BN coalition, which has since claimed a 133-seats victory in the federal Parliament of 222-seats.
Given the topic of the Pakatan rally, it is not surprising that Najib would try hard to deter the crowds from coming. But barring heavy rain, dissatisfied voters are bound to turn up in droves.
Whether the 59-year-old Najib who was quickly sworn in for a second term on Monday chooses to acknowledge the grouse, a check by Malaysia Chronicle around the Klang Valley found many disgruntled voices.
"We feel cheated, we feel heartsick. We didn't queue for hours just to have our wishes snatched away like this," a cashier at a large appliance store in the Petaling Jaya area told Malaysia Chronicle. She is Chinese and has two teenage kids, for whom she said she "was voting for their future".
Subservient police
Tian and his PKR colleague, Kuantan MP Fuziah Salleh, also slammed the police for taking sides and threatening to arrest anyone who attended.
"My advise is to the IGP to uphold his duty to maintain order and not to be subservient to an illegitimate government," said Tian.
"This is an indoor stadium gather, we are not marching in the streets. There is no reason why the police should consider this as a threat to public security. There is no such thing as illegal assembly when we are holding this indoor. We are not marching in the streets, we are not going onto a public premise, we are having it in a stadium owned by the government of Selangor. There are no objections from the owner of the premise, therefore this rally is completely legitimate."
"It's the same as watching football in the stadium," said Fuziah.
Wear BLACK
Already the horror stories of rampant and desperate cheating are rife all over Facebook, Twitter and other social media. However, there has been no response from the authorities including the Election Commission, which has been slammed for alleged bias toward Najib's Umno party.
"Thus far there has been no response whatsoever from Najib or the EC. Totally muted as always or they will dismiss it as irrelevant or the work of the Opposition," Anwar had told a press conference on Tuesday.
The 64-year-old Anwar will kick off the PR fight-back to regain an electoral victory they insist was "stolen" from them at tonight's rally in the Kelana Jaya stadium in Selangor. Anwar also told supporters to attend wearing black clothing or black insignia to symbolize their protest against polls cheating.
