Another student activist also detained
Meanwhile, student activist Mohd Safwan Anang (right) was also arrested for sedition tonight, joining the ranks of fellow student activist Adam Adli Abdul Halim who has already been charged under the Sedition Act 1948 on May 23.
When contacted, Mohd Safwan’s wife, Masturah Abu Bakar, told Malaysiakini that he was being brought to the Dang Wangi district police headquarters.
“The police did not tell us whether it is just to record a statement or it is a detention,” she said.
All those arrested, including Adam, were present at a forum at the Kuala Lumpur Selangor Chinese Assembly on May 13 which discussed about the 1969 racial riots.
The second round of arrests comes despite urgings for the police tocease their crackdown.
