Intelligence test
- Do you believe there were phantom voters during the general election?
- Do you believe foreigners were given ICs to vote?
- Do you believe this photo shows ICs thrown out of a bus full of foreign workers after the 2013 general election?
Rational answers
- Stories like this have been told at every general election. Most people believe it to be somewhat true
- Again, lots of second-hand stories. Most people believe it to be somewhat true.
- Do you believe the photo is truly about voter fraud? Or do you desperately want to believe it? Because you want it to be true, and you want the Barisan Nasional to look bad? Sarawak Report claims these are fake ICs, but gave no details. Just innuendo. Malaysia Chronicle repeated the Sarawak Report story verbatim. No corroboration. On Facebook, that photo has been floating around, as “proof” of electoral fraud.
Where are the facts?
If a fraud has been exposed, where are the facts? Sarawak Report has no facts to offer, only innuendo. Thrown out of a bus? Come on, lah. Buses nowadays are air-conditioned; there are no windows that you can open to throw things out.
What’s the truth?
Memory tells me that a photo like this was used in a news report a couple of years ago, probably in the Star. A Google search turns up a story from Alor Star in September 2011 but with a different photo, a close-up. Memory says there was also a photo of the cop looking at the ICs the same day. But maybe not at the Star, maybe another paper, or maybe the Star changed the photo. (I didn’t bother to ask.)
So, which do you want to believe?
It’s bad enough putting up with Barisan Nasional bullshit. It’s worse to encounterbullshit from Pakatan Rakyat politicians and supporters who fervently proclaim their virtues.
Is this going to help Rafizi Ramli with his case for proving electoral fraud?
Bullshit smells the same from any side
It stinks even more from people who say they are on the side of truth and justice.
