Way-togo-moorthy, looks like your magic worked
YOURSAY ‘Waytha - a minister without portfolio and a backdoor one too. Let's see what he can do.'
New cabinet: Waytha, Khairy, Paul Low in; MCA out
Bolygal50: What? Hindraf chief P Waythamoorthy is a deputy minister? PM Najib Abdul Razak, we Indians do not want him. He is a sellout. Waythamoorthy is a fraud who cares only for himself, not for the Indians.
Malaysia54: Waythamoorthy, your fasting worked to your advantage. So this is what you wanted, now we know what others have been saying is true.
Chee Hoe Siew: Just as suspected, there is a reason why Waythamoorthy colluded with Najib and now we know why. A simple deputy minister post is more than enough to buy him over.
Apapunboleh: Waytha - a minister without portfolio and a backdoor one too. Let's see what he can do. Maybe he will fast again in parliament.
Quigonbond: Wonderful. Even as Umno threatens to wipe out all vernacular schools, Waytha has accepted a deputy ministerial position. Waytha memang boleh (indeed can). I can't say the same for our brothers and sisters in the Indian community.
Hermit: Honourable P Waythamoorthy. Congratulation on being made a deputy minister. It looks that the magic you're talking has worked.
Wira: He helped Najib and Najib is helping him with a deputy minister's post. Now the invisible print in the memorandum is getting clearer.
PS: Waytha, we hope you are now in a position to work out how to turn red ICs (identity cards) into blue ICs for the marginalised citizens and to work the magic of reducing the poor Indian youths who are sucked into a life of crime.
Swipenter: After holidaying in London for a few years, Waytha came back unhindered, staged a ‘wayang kulit' show and a fast, and voila! He becomes a deputy minister.
Is this is the kind of real and effective representation Hindraf was talking about?
We all know a deputy minister post carries no weight and substance. Ask the MCA politicians, they can tell you the all about the position and responsibilities of a deputy minister.
Apapunboleh: Waytha agreed to four demands and traded the rest for a place in the cabinet. Whether this was acceptable to those who supported him is left to be seen.
Maratamizhan: Since Pakatan didn't come to power in which the Indians had placed some hope, they should give Waytha a chance to improve the living standard of the Indians.
Since 2008 he and his brother Uthayakumar, together with Hindraf, have been clamouring to rid the Indians of their sufferings.
Since now he is in the inner circle, I pray he will use his new found ties with Najib to eradicate the sufferings of the Indians.
As for Uthaya, he should support his brother's efforts in uplifting the Indian welfare. I know both of you are fighting sincerely for the Indians.
Centurion: Uthaya, your brother sure was smarter than you. You lose your deposit in GE13 and he becomes an instant minister. What an inspiration to all aspiring Tamilians.
Ferdtan: I don't want to talk about politicians becoming cabinet ministers but Hindraf P Waythamoorthy and Transparency International-Malaysia president Paul Low?
So will Waytha and Paul Low be the advisors of Najib on Indian and Chinese affairs respectively?
Obviously Waytha will be accepting the post, and it goes to show that his is a case of position rather than the sincere fight for the marginalised Indians.
We are used to MCA screwing the Chinese all the years, now you have another Indian leader (beside MIC) to prolong the suffering of his race.
And why didn't Najib appoint Jho Low as a tourism minister? Maybe he can bring in socialite Paris Hilton to perform.
Psycho: Congratulations to Waytha and Hindraf. Just proceed with the blueprint. You have a full task ahead in working for the Indians and also other minority communities. It is a blessing in disguise. Hindraf has made the right choice.
Magnus: Final word on Hindraf - I feel sorry for all those Hindraf supporters who must be feeling betrayed for believing in the movement and its leaders, and who have worked hard to get Hindraf off the ground.
The leaders of Hindraf would not have achieved anything or got anywhere but for the support given to them.
Retnam: When Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng was trying to solve the Kampung Buah Pala problem, Waytha scoffed at him saying that the problem could be solved with a stroke of the pen.
Waytha should now buy a lot of pens so that all problems of Indians can be solved by stroking them. - Malaysiakini
