'Worry about your sexy stewardesses, not Utusan'
Columnist Ridhuan Tee Abdullah said budget carrier AirAsia should focus on making the skirts of its Malay air stewardesses longer and cover their chests instead of criticising Umno-owned daily Utusan Malaysia.
In the weekend edition of Utusan Malaysia today, Ridhuan noted AirAsia X CEO Azran Osman Rani's (right) statement on Twitter: "I am Malaysian. I am anti-racism. I am disgusted by Utusan's editorial stance".
"My advice, take care of the low-cost carrier and don't interfere in outside matters.
"Think of ways to make the skirts longer and covering the chests of Malay stewardess at the budget carrier," he opined.
He also took offence at AirAsia's reception given to Virgin group chairperson Richard Branson recently.
"Some of the Malay stewardesses were asked to act like cartoons, dyeing their hair white and dressing sexily just to welcome the Caucasian," he said.
‘Find a country that will recognise UEC'
On another matter, Ridhuan said he agreed with the government that the United Examination Certificate (UEC) should first be modified to be in line with the national education policy before being given recognition.
"If there are those that disagree, then go find a country that can agree (to recognition without modification)," said the Universiti Pertahanan Nasional professor.
UEC is an examination taken in Chinese independent schools and is internationally recognised but not by the Malaysian government.
He noted that when Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak (right) met Chinese educationist group Dong Zong, he had said that students needed at least a credit in Malay language in SPM, together with their UEC qualification to qualify for public universities.
"Even such an offer is difficult to accept. What more do the Chinese want? I think this question is not overboard. When the government softened its stance, was the favour returned?" he said.
He also urged the premier to conduct studies before following through with his promise to grant college university status to a number of "racist schools and universities".
Najib had prior to the general election promised than Han Chiang College in Penang will be upgraded to college university status.
He added that as the Chinese and Indians become more parochial, Malays should not opt to become more liberal.
