KL 'Black 505' rally will comply with PAA, says Rafizi

Organisers of the Kuala Lumpur leg of the 'Black 505' rallies will comply with the Peaceful Assembly Act 2012 (PAA) and notify police about the details of the rally.

Speaking to the press this afternoon, PKR director of strategy Rafizi Ramli noted that his party would serve notice to the police by tomorrow, which is also the deadline under the PAA.

"We will deliver the notice and (will) definitely comply with the PAA.

"We will also call a press conference tomorrow to announce the venue and details of the rally," said the newly-elected Pandan MP.

According to Rafizi, the rally will carry three main objectives, which are:
  • To demand that all the commissioners of the Election Commission (EC) resign immediately;
  • To demand fresh elections be held in 30 parliamentary seats where electoral fraud is suspected to have take place; and
  • To demand that the constituency re-delination exercise not be carried out before the new EC members are appointed.
PKR is calling for a mass rally in Kuala Lumpur on June 15 in protest against alleged electoral fraud during the 13th general election held on May 5.

Electoral reform pressure group Bersih is expected to support the rally, with its co-chairperson S Ambiga declaring earlier today that itwill back the rally should it call for the EC commissioners to resign.
