Report lodged againt Dr M's 'racist' blog posting

Alor Setar MP Gooi Hsiao Leung, together with a group of supporters, held a protest in front of the Alor Setar district police headquarters today over Dr Mahathir Mohamad's recent “unfair attack” against Chinese voters.

Gooi (second from right, in photo) said he had also lodged a police report over the former prime minister’s “utterly irrational and unfair” blog posting, which “no one in his right mind can believe”.

“Mahathir’s suggestion, that the Chinese are out to sideline the Malays economically and politically, is not only utterly absurd, but... extremely irresponsible and destructive, threatening our national harmony shared by all races.

“Only a rabid fanatical racist would want to promote such a notion, whose only conceivable agenda is to sow and incite racial hatred and animosity between the Malays and the Chinese,” Gooi said in a statement today.

Mahathir had claimed in his blog yesterday that the fact the ‘Black 505' post-election rallies are “largely attended by the Chinese” was proof of “Chinese racism” in the polls.

He also wrote that PAS, “the most Malay of the Pakatan (Rakyat) parties”, winning only 21 seats against DAP’s 38, showed that the DAP is pushing for the Chinese “who already dominate the economy” to take control of the country's politics.

Saying the nation’s longest serving prime minister must be held responsible for his statements, Kedah PKR is calling upon the attorney-general to immediately investigate Mahathir (right) for sedition.

Gooi further challenged Mahathir to attend the upcoming ‘Black 505' rally in Kuala Lumpur on June 15, to “see for himself” whether the turnout would comprise mainly of Chinese, or would participants consists of different races.
