So detainees presumed guilty until proven innocent?

FREE YOURSAY 'NKRA director Ayob Yaakob, did you mean that the police are not trained to follow orders? And before this, all those detained are assumed criminals?'

Detainees to be treated as 'innocent until proven guilty'

your sayPahatian: What proper training is National Key Result Area (NKRA) director Ayob Yaakob talking about? Aren't the police all professionally trained?

Do you mean that they are not trained to follow orders? And also do you mean before this, all those detained are assumed criminals?

That explains why even before they are charged in court they are already dead.

Ferdtan: The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) was formed on March 25, 1807, two centuries ago, and you still want more time to make our police force a professional unit?

Alright, we can discount all those years under the British rule but for over 50 years, the police force was under our own government. Isn't that enough time to shape our security force?

Ayob Yaacob, the last bit was hard to take when you said the rakyat still have faith in PDRM. Where exactly did you get that perception from? Is it from one of your key result indices given by your paid consultants?

Let us give you one solution, just one - it is none other than to implement IPCMC (Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission).

Your men are like small children. They are indiscipline due to many reasons - lack of control from the top, too politicised, lack of facilities and amenities, etc.

It is too late to be civil to all the bad police officers; they have gone out of control. Ayob, have you heard the phrase "Spare the rod and spoil the child"? IPCMC is the only cure left before the force destroyed itself.

Rajazep Kajang: We have many cop shows on TV and the police still don't know about the principle of innocent until proven guilty? You don't need to be a cop to know this.

Abasir: Now, can the very loud and crude inspector-general of police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar explain to Malaysians why this basic principle has not been drilled into all police officers from the time they are recruited?

They are sent for training to Pulapol (Pusat Latihan Polis) in Jalan Gurney aka Jalan Semarak, to Royal Malaysian Police College in Kuala Kubu Baru, and God knows where else.
Can he explain where the taxpayers' funds allocated for training have gone to? Or is it possible that the compulsory Biro Tatanegara (BTN) training (which demonises all ‘pendatang') has effectively nullified whatever has been taught during the police's basic training?

Anonymous #07443216: Mr Ayob, what a load of silly excuses. The reasons or excuses you gave for the police officers are pathetic.

Have you and all the senior men in blue been sleeping, so much so those men under your care have been doing what they think befits the occasion or situation?

Quigonbond: Talk is cheap. Show us real action. That's what Malaysians ask. It's not a question of faith. If the public don't lambast the force, then what else can they do? Not everyone can afford private security. ‘Jangan masuk bakul angkat sendiri.'

Wg321: From the post-mortem report, all the serious wounds found on N Dhamendran's body indicated that he was tortured to death.

I can imagined Dhamendran must be screaming from excruciating pain while being tortured. But then nobody in the police station heard anything. Maybe, such screaming is very normal in a police station.

When his wife saw the dead body, the pain she felt in her heart must have be even more painful than Dhamendran's torture.

Real Life: How hard is it for them to just do their job? A lot of the things are hygiene factors that are common sense. We should not need to remind or tell them how to do it.

Simple things like catch the thief, protect the people, do not take bribes, be honest, etc. They just need to do it and stop talking about it.

Mark Anthony: Ayob, you don't need to waste money to engage international consultants to study the public perception of the police force. Conduct an online survey and you will get the results cheaply.

Gods Messenger: Mr NKRA director, 55 years ago the police force had competent, honest, hardworking, proud, capable and competent men. They were proud of their attire and ribbons awarded.

If you remember, their housing was not more than flats and later these flats were converted to offices. But these days, the police have five-star office buildings and living quarters. Recently, the PM raised the salary for police and army personnel.

If the PDRM is independent without political interference, I am sure the people will love our force. Please get rid of the political crabs who rule the force for their own benefit.

Anonymous_VV: Only time will tell if this will help the police improve. What we desperately need are honest and capable police officers serving the nation, and not their political masters. If you serve the nation, all else would fall into place.

Avatar_2397: You mean PDRM officers don't know a suspect is innocent until proven guilty? They must have learned by example from BN, whose policy for its cronies is "innocent even though clearly guilty". - Malaysiakini
