Home of former Malacca exco broken into

The home of former Malacca state exco Datuk Ab Karim Sulaiman in Sungai Udang was broken into early this morning while he was busy campaigning for Barisan Nasional (BN) in Terengganu ahead of the Kuala Besut by-election.

Ab Karim, a former state public works and amenities committee chairman and Tanjung Bidara state assemblyman, suffered losses amounting to about RM5,000.

His son-in-law, Amir Ariffin, 37, said when he returned to the house at 11.30am today, a 43-inch TV, home theatre set and some clothing were missing.

"While Ab Karim was away, his family members were in our other house in Kampung Seri Jeram, near Alor Gajah. When I arrived at the house I found the back door forced open and footprints in the garden.

"My neighbour saw a car dropping someone in front of the house at about 5.30am and later pick up the same person about an hour later," he told reporters.

Amir, who works in the Malacca Chief Minister's office, said there was an attempt to rob the house two months ago.

Meanwhile, a spokesman from the Alor Gajah police station said police were carrying out investigations. - Bernama
