Malindo Air deal a practise of cronyism?

A DAP lawmaker has questioned whether the government's decision to introduce Malindo Air as a new low cost airline in Malaysia was a practise of "cronyism".

NONEPetaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua (left) said although Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak announced the arrival of Malindo Air on Sept 12 last year, a parliamentary reply showed that Malindo Air was only given aviation licence in Malaysia on Feb 28.

Pua questioned Najib's announcement of the starting up of Malindo Air in Malaysia even before an aviation licence was considered and approved.

He also said that the Finance Ministry owns a 5.7 percent share in National Aerospace and Defence Industries Sdn Bhd (Nadi), the main shareholding company for Malindo Air.
