‘PDRM can act with or without report’

Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi says anyone “identified of doing such things will be dealt with immediately”.
KUALA LUMPUR:  The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) and the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) are monitoring individuals and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) trying to play up religious sentiments.
Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said KDN took a serious view of sensitive issues that could destroy the multi-religious harmony in this country.
“Those identified of doing such things will be dealt with immediately,” he told reporters after attending the KDN and PDRM ‘buka puasa’ here, tonight.
Also present were the Inspector-General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar and his deputy, Mohd Bakri Mohd Zinin.
Ahmad Zahid said the National Harmony Bill (Act) to be tabled in parliament in September would not be much different from the Sedition Act it replaces.
“Until the National Harmony Act is enforced, the Sedition Act remains in force and PDRM can act with or without police reports,” he added.
