Sabah flood water level recedes

KOTA KINABALU - Water levels at flood-hit districts across Sabah receded as heavy rains brought by the North Easterly monsoon has stopped in the last 24 hours.

A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department operations room here said the river level at Beaufort's Sungai Padas was no longer in danger level and was recorded at 8.62 metre as at noon today.

"As of 12pm, 606 villagers affected in Beaufort have been placed at the two temporary relief centres at SMK Beaufort 3 and Membakut town hall. Some may have gone to their relatives.

"For Tenom which was also badly hit, some 2,265 villagers have been relocated to 18 relief centres," said the spokesperson.
