White squid priced at RM2.50 per kilo in Telupid, Sabah


The public market in Telupid, Sabah, is probably the most preferred market among seafood lovers as it offers the lowest price of RM2.50 for a kilogramme of M-size white squid today.

According to the www.1pengguna.com portal, the squid was priced at RM4 per kilo in the wet market in Sibuga Batu 8, Sandakan.

In certain wet markets, the white squid was still priced below RM10 per kilo, namely in Padang Tembak, Penang (RM7), SMC, Sibu and Sg Rajang, Sarikei in Sarawak (RM8) and in Padang Rengas, Perak (RM9).

However, in most markets in Kedah, the squid was priced at between RM10 and RM18 per kilo, Kelantan (RM13-RM20), Selangor (RM15-RM28) and Kuala Lumpur (RM15-RM24).

Meanwhile, two wet markets in Sarawak, namely Muhibbah Tamu Market in Miri and Sg Rajang Market in Sarikei, offered M-size shrimp at the lowest price of RM7 per kilo, while a hypermarket in Gunung Rapat, Perak, sold it at RM8 per kilo.

In the city, most wet markets sold the shrimp at a price between RM10 and RM30 per kilo.

The portal, operated by the Domestic Trade, Cooperative and Consumerism Ministry, also listed the price of M-size black pomfret to be between RM11.99 and RM26 per kilo in several supermarkets and wet markets in Selangor and in the city.

In Pahang, the fish was priced at between RM5.99 and RM30 per kilo, while several supermarkets and wet markets in Perak sold it between RM9.88 and RM30.

Meanwhile, a kilogramme of long bean was sold at between RM2 and RM12.20 in Sarawak, Sabah (RM2.90-RM6.60), Johor (RM2.99-RM8.99), Selangor (RM2.99-RM14.90) and Kuala Lumpur (RM2.99-RM14.90).

A bundle of green spinach (250g) was priced between RM0.29 and RM2 in Selangor, Kuala Lumpur (RM0.32-RM2), Pahang (RM0.35-RM1), and Johor (RM0.35-RM2).
