Chief Minister Adenan Satem today announced that he will hold the Finance as well as Resource Planning and Environment portfolios.
He said that he no longer held the position of special functions minister in a minor cabinet reshuffle, effective March 1.
When asked why there were no major changes in the state cabinet line-up, Adenan said all ministers had performed their jobs well.
“As I said earlier...when you are on to something good, you stick to it. We are heading for the right direction, why need changes?” he said during a press conference at the Sarawak state legislative assembly building in Kuching today.
He also said for the time being, the special functions minister will be left open, until it is required to be filled.
Commenting on plans to appoint another deputy chief minister, Adenan said that the matter had been contemplated.
“I will announce it at the appropriate time, and appropriate place. There is no rush over the matter,” he said.
Meanwhile, on the Balingian by-election, Adenan said they were waiting for the Election Commission (EC) to announce the dates for nomination day and polling.
“We are confident that we can win Balingian as we have won it so many times before. The people still keep faith with us. In due time we will announce who are the candidates and so on.
“A few names were submitted to me... I will discuss them with my senior colleagues in Parti Pesaka Bumiputera (PBB) and Barisan Nasional (BN) who is the most suitable person,” he said.
