Home Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi today warned all parties “not to manipulate” the Allah issue during the Kajang by-election campaign.
He pointed out that the appeal by the Catholic weekly Herald on the use of Allah in its publications is yet to be heard by the Federal Court.
"We will abide by what the court has decided before and what will be decided in the future.
"I want to remind all parties that no party should manipulate this issue and we must be compromising on issues of religion," Zahid said.
He also warned all parties not to create religious friction, as it would be akin "to poking the hornet's nest".
Zahid also questioned why only the Catholics appeared to be questioning the Court of Appeal ruling last year to ban Herald from using Allah in its publications.
"This decision (to allow use of Allah in Christian publications) is only being demanded by Catholics.
“Other Christians appear to be okay with it. I don't know why the Catholics have a lot of issues in this matter," he said after an event in Hulu Langat earlier today.
