'Heads must roll over Skip highway inclusion'

The Say No to Kidex group has urged the Selangor government not to dismiss the matter of the  insertion of the Serdang-Kinrara-Putrajaya (Skip) into the Subang Jaya Local Plan without public consultation.

Instead of merely saying that the highway can be removed from the plans if irregularities are found, the group is demanding action be taken against the officers responsible.

Its committee member Max Khuin Weng said in a statement today the whole point of the exercise of probing the highway under the Selangor Select Committee for Competency, Accountability and Transparency (Selcat) is to explain "how Skip was inserted into the local plan in the first place."

"If there is no punishment and no remedy to the process, the rakyat would have to be forever vigilant against such blatant abuses of power," Max said.

State executive councillor for local government, research and development Teng Chang Kim was recently reported to have said that the local plan could be amended to remove any reference to Skip,, provided a fresh public briefing is conducted on the highway.

"Instead of investigating the matter, Teng is making irresponsible and dodgy statements  that Skip can be erased from the city plans," Max said.
