Can things be done differently if Selangor Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim is replaced with Wan Azizah?
COMMENT
A question raised by almost all Selangorians is what would Dr.Wan Azizah Wan Ismail do differently to solve the issues in the state if she comes to power.
I believe it is also in the minds of top Selangor politicians like DAP MP Ong Kian Ming, who has been noticeably silent on this matter.
Often Pakatan Rakyat leaders talk about Menteri Besar Khalid Ibrahim not being able to manage the water and Bible issues properly but what guarantees are there that the governance will be different if a new MB is sworn in?
It also begins to prove that Pakatan is indeed fragile and I do not even want to imagine what will happen if they are the ones managing the country.
Politicians, especially in the Opposition camp, often get away with high-level statements but what we need are concrete and detailed solutions.
For instance, the Federal government is committed to the 10-point solution in managing the polarities of the Bible issue.
Of course, it does not make everyone happy but this is the kind of detailed solutions on issues that is expected to come out from them.
Let it be clear the 10-point solution was by an Umno-led BN Federal government. The people in Selangor know clearly that Umno has no control over what and how the state government is being run by seasoned politicians like Anwar Ibrahim and Khalid.
Do not drag Umno into the political mess that has been created in Selangor all because of one powerful political family.
Stephen Ng wrote an open letter to Khalid and said “What you and the others should have done was make a strong stand once and for all”.
He needs to make it crystal clear that the “others” include Anwar Ibrahim, Abdul Hadi Awang and Lim Guan Eng.
Within a day or two after the Bibles were confiscated, there were three DAP state assemblymen who provided a solution in Selangor.
Yeo Bee Yin, Rajiv Rishyakaran and Lau Weng San said they would propose the changes to be made on the Selangor Non-Islamic Religions (Control of Propagation Among Muslims) Enactment 1988 at the next state assembly sitting.
It was reported that Anwar ticked off the three assemblymen and the proposal did not see daylight.
Are you convinced that Dr.Wan Azizah will make a stand and resolve these issues?
A political commentator Iskandar Yaacob, who rarely writes about his political opinion but decided to put his thoughts on why Khalid needs to be replaced said: “I recalled a claim made by my friend that he (Khalid) promised many things to the people be it party leaders or ordinary people but never delivered. Even Anwar is not spared”.
What exactly were these promises made by Khalid to the party leaders and Anwar that were not delivered? I cannot help but wonder if it has something to do with the RM3 billion plus cash reserves in Selangor.
The patience of many Selangorians is running thin.
