Khalid not worth a sen to Anwar, says Perkasa

PKR’s decision to replace the Selangor menteri besar shows that Abdul Khalid Ibrahim is worth nothing to the party, Perkasa chief Ibrahim Ali said.

“Khalid has no intention to quit or be replaced. This means that Anwar wants to topple Khalid because he is of no use anymore.

“It is as if Khalid is to be discarded just like that. How embarrassing for Khalid - not worth a single sen to Anwar,” the former Pasir Mas parliamentarian (right) said in a statement.

He was referring to Anwar’s announcement that PKR is proposing his wife and PKR president Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to replace Khalid as MB.

According to Ibrahim, what is happening in Selangor now is akin to what happened in Kelantan in the late 1970s, which led to the declaration of emergency in the state.

Then PAS president Asri Muda had wanted to sack Kelantan menteri besar Mohd Nasir, resulting in a political crisis.

“I worry that the same will happen in Selangor if Khalid insists on not stepping down gracefully,” he said.

“If Anwar succeeds in promoting his wife as Selangor MB, then it is clear that PKR is a private limited company with Anwar controlling 60 percent of the shares, DAP 35 percent and PAS a minority shareholder of only five percent.”

‘Anwar sidelined palace’

Likewise, Federal Territories Umno leader Syed Ali Alhabshee believes Anwar had pushed his weight around to promote his wife as Khalid’s replacement.

The Cheras Umno chief is quoted saying in the division’s blog that Anwar’s move of announcing Wan Azizah as the replacement sidelines the sultan who has the power to appoint an MB.

He said that this was a sly move by Anwar to “trap” those who tried to stop Wan Azizah from taking over the post.

PKR on Tuesday announced that it endorses Wan Azizah to take over the Selangor MB position, despite Khalid’s insistence that he wants to serve out his second term.

The proposal was presented to the Pakatan Rakyat leadership council yesterday for PAS and DAP deliberation.
