Let Pakatan Rakyat decide Selangor MB post, not Umno

Khalid is so strongly backed by Umno to remain as Selangor MB, it might be reason enough for Pakatan Rakyat to consider replacing him, says The Malaysian Insider. - The Malaysian Insider pic, July 15, 2014.Khalid is so strongly backed by Umno to remain as Selangor MB, it might be reason enough for Pakatan Rakyat to consider replacing him, says The Malaysian Insider. - The Malaysian Insider pic, July 15, 2014.Unlike Umno lawyer Datuk Hafarizam Harun, Umno Youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin believes that women can be a menteri besar or even prime minister.
Despite that enlightened view, he firmly said today that PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail is unsuitable for the top post in Selangor.
But why should he or for that matter any Umno politician have any say on who is the Selangor MB? Umno was soundly rejected by the electorate in Selangor.
So the best option for Khairy and his colleagues from the party of the corrupt is to keep calm and rebuild their own party for the next general election.
Can they rebuild their party into an image that will be accepted by most Malaysians?
The signs are not encouraging. The party is led by a listless president and assisted by party officials that fall into these categories. A) corrupt B) corrupt and unintelligent c) corrupt, unintelligent and sexist.
That Umno politicians are falling over themselves to keep Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim in office is the most compelling reason why perhaps he needs to go.
The shrill attention to who could and should possibly replace Khalid if Pakatan Rakyat decided to sack him just reflects Umno's impotence in winning back Selangor.
It does not help that the Umno lawyer decided to be misogynistic about who can replace Khalid. And the Umno Youth chief decides that Wan Azizah is unfit for the job.
They should remember that they can have their say if and when Umno wins back Selangor. Until then, best leave it to Pakatan Rakyat to sort out their own waffling leadership mess.
