Ridzuan was reported as saying in Harakah Daily that he was unemployed and did not have the money to engage a lawyer to fight his case at the Court of Appeal.
The interview was conducted by the PAS organ at an undisclosed location in Kota Baru.
In 2010, Ipoh High Court ordered custody of the couple's three children to M. Indira Gandhi, a kindergarten teacher.
But, Ridzuan has yet to hand over their youngest daughter, Prasana Diksa, who is now six-years-old, to Indira Ghandi.
Ridzuan has held on to Prasana Diksa since April 2009 when she was 11-months old.
The Shariah High Court in Ipoh had in 2009 given Ridzuan custody of the three children after he unilaterally converted them to Islam.
But, the Ipoh High Court in July last year quashed the certificates of conversion of the three children, ruling them null and void because they were unconstitutional.
According to the report, Ridzuan said that both Tevi Darsiny, 16, Karan Dinish, 15, wanted to be with him and Prasana.
"The last time I met them in Ipoh, they asked me why I did not take them away to be with their youngest sibling," he was quoted as saying.
"I feel a sense of emptiness and long to be with my children," he said.
On May 30 this year, Indira obtained a recovery order from the High Court to compel police to get Prasana from Ridzuan to be handed over to her.
The court has also issued a warrant of arrest against him.
However, the court would not hear Ridzuan's appeal, scheduled on August 18, unless he returned Prasana to the mother.
This is because a Federal Court has held a civil court will not entertain any case once an appellant was in contempt of court.
