Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar today slammed English newspaper New Straits Times for risking the safety of a policeman abducted from Pulau Mabul in Sabah recently by publishing a report claiming a ransom demand has been made.
Khalid also dismissed the report itself, telling people “not to listen to rumours”.
“NST is putting my man in danger. I hope there are no other places that are following the paper,” Khalid said.
He said that he had requested clearly that any matter pertaining to the cop being held hostage now should not be reported as news.
