An MACC official confirmed the report and said it was normal procedure for the anti-graft body to visit any agency or organisation in the course of checking on a complaint.
“We have not started any investigation. We have just visited them to see if there is a case,” the officer said.
Nothing was taken from the RoS office in Putrajaya during the visit, he added.
The MACC visit follows a report lodged against the MIC secretary-general G. Kumar Aaman by Senator A. Vigneswaran on January 9.
Vigneswaran had made the report after Kumar Aaman claimed that he had proof of foul play in the ROS's probe into the MIC elections. The complaint subsequently saw the RoS nullify the party elections on December 5.
The RoS decision nullified the elections for the party's three vice-presidents and 23 central working committee (CWC) posts that were held during its general assembly in November 2013. The RoS recommended that a re-election be held within 90 days.
Kumar claimed that he was supposed to meet the RoS director-general on Monday but the meeting was cancelled.
“I have given them 72 hours to meet me. If not, I have some crucial information that needs to be extended to the MACC.
“I will also be sending a letter to MACC chief commissioner Tan Sri Abu Kassim Mohamed. I will reveal the ‘true story’ when the time comes,” he had said in a statement on Monday.
