Holy books should be sent to nearby mosques where religious authorities can follow proper procedures for its disposal.
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Muslim Consumers Association (PPIM) has called on religious authorities to inform the public regarding the proper procedures to dispose of copies of the Quran and other religious books damaged by flood waters.
In a statement here yesterday, PPIM said throughout the mission to help flood victims in the country, its volunteers found a large number of copies of the Quran which were no longer usable as they were badly damaged and smeared in mud.
Hence, the association proposed for the damaged copies of the Quran and religious books to be collected and sent to nearby mosques and suraus to be disposed of according to proper procedures.
“We hope the public can adhere to the proper procedures in managing damaged copies of the Quran,” the statement said.
