Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor today slammed Malay right-wing group Perkasa for questioning the construction of a Hindu temple in Putrajaya, saying that it will not affect the faith of Muslims staying nearby.
He asked Perkasa to stop playing up the construction of Sri Lalithambikai Alayam temple and pointed out that the project had been approved a long time ago.
"We have built many temples before, building another one in Putrajaya is not going to change the entire population into Hindus," Adnan said after launching a new housing development in Sungai Besi this morning.
Tengku Adnan said this in response to comments by Perkasa Youth chief Irwan Fahmi Ideris who was recently reported to have asked why a Hindu temple had been constructed in a Malay-majority area and suggested its entrance face Banting, where a large Hindu population lives.
