Rosmah: Govt has lots of money, but…

She says parents shouldn't depend too much on the government to finance their children's education.
rosmah2PUTRAJAYA: Rosmah Mansor today told parents not to depend entirely on the government to finance their children’s education although “the government has a lot of money”.
Speaking at the launch of the Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) programme for children here, the Prime Minister’s wife urged parents to invest in ASB units to free them from worry when their children are short of funds.
She said that whenever she met Malaysian students on her trips abroad, the Number One complaint she would hear from them would be that their scholarships were insufficient.
“I know that the government has a lot of money to set aside for scholarships,” she said. “But if you don’t get it or if you get too little, that’s not a reason to fault the government.
“All these children know is to ask and to take. But that’s alright. Some people say it’s their right.”
She said parents should be responsible enough to save for their children’s education and that investing in ASB would be an excellent way of doing this.
Rosmah also spoke about the proliferation of get-rich-quick schemes run by “irresponsible people” and warned the public against being enticed by them.
