In a statement, the company said it has proceeded to file bankruptcy proceedings against Salahuddin for failing to pay RM5 million in aggravated and exemplary damages.
The Kuala Lumpur High Court last September awarded the sum to AirAsia after Salahuddin was found liable for his action.
AirAsia had also obtained an injunction against the blogger not to repeat his defamatory words.
Details of the suit were not immediately available.
In early January, another blogger Amizudin Ahmat was ordered to serve a three-month jail term for being in contempt in publishing defamatory articles on former Information, Communication and Culture Minister Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim.
Amizudin, 44, had to serve the prison term after he failed to obtain leave from the Federal Court to appeal against an earlier High Court decision, which had found him to be in contempt.
Rais had in 2011 obtained an injunction order against the publication of articles on Amizudin's blog which was not observed.
The High Court in 2012 held that Amizudin was guilty of contempt of court for breaching the court order, and sentenced him to a three-month custodial sentence.
