Palanivel suspends five for intruding into MIC building

These individuals assaulted a staff and threatened other workers, halting opeartions at the MIC headquarters.
micpalKUALA LUMPUR: MIC President G. Palanivel suspended five party members today for forced intrusion into the MIC party headquarters, here recently.
Palanivel said he had been forced to take drastic action under the MIC Constitution for their involvement in such activities which were detrimental to the interest of the party.
However, Palanivel, who is also the Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, did not reveal their names.
“On March 12, a group of people had once again intruded into the MIC headquarters wanting to take over control of the premises.
“These individuals went to the extent of assaulting a staff of the MIC headquarters as well as threatening and intimidating other workers.
“The staff were forced to leave the building and the day-to-day operations of the party headquarters came to a halt. These individuals also confiscated the keys from the staff and locked the premises,” he said in a statement today.
Yesterday, Palanivel went to the MIC headquarters and re-opened the premises and asked the staff to resume operations.
“I have not taken drastic action against the others involved though I have such powers under the MIC Constitution,” he added.
Palanivel said if they persisted with such unlawful conduct, he would be left with no option but to take drastic actions against them, too.
On March 12, the Interim Central Working Committee (CWC) 2009 appointed CWC member S.S. Rajagopal to manage the administration and management in the MIC building following reports that some defunct party branches have been revived by certain party members.
