The High Court today dismissed the public prosecutor's appeal against the acquittal of PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu and Batu MP Tian Chua who participated in the 2007 Bersih rally.
Judge Amelia Tee Hong Geok Abdullah, however, found 11 others guilty and fined them RM8,000 each in allowing the government's appeal.
“High court reversed the acquittal by Session Court & convict 11 participants in 2007 #Bersih rally, with the exception of Mat Sabu & I,” Chua who is Batu MP said in a Twitter post after the court delivered its decision.
In late November 2012, Sessions Court judge Datuk Jagjit Singh freed them of charges of participating in an illegal assembly on Nov 10, 2007.
