As of 2pm, 40,173 people or 55.88% of voters had cast their ballots in the Permatang Pauh by-election, the Election Commission said.
A total of 71,252 people are eligible to vote today while 549 people or 87.6% of the 627 early voters cast their votes on Sunday.
The Permatang Pauh by-election sees a four-cornered contest between Barisan Nasional candidate Suhaimi Sabudin, PKR candidate Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, Parti Rakyat Malaysia candidate Azman Shah Othman and Independent candidate Salleh Isahak.
It is being held after Permatang Pauh incumbent Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim lost his eligibility as elected representative. Anwar was convicted of sodomy and is undergoing a five-year jail sentence.
