Booze-filled school jubilee leaves guests angry

Teachers equally shocked but maintain alcoholic drinks were never discussed when setting the menu with the organising committee.

IPOH: There were red faces among the 1,000 guests who attended a school’s golden jubilee celebration here and the reason for it was that alcohol was being served freely.

Pictures of people drinking at the school celebration have now gone viral on WhatsApp and Facebook, with many netizens reacting angrily to it, Sinar Harian reported.

Peark state executive councillor Muhammad Amin Zakaria said the Kinta Utara education office was not informed about the event.

He said teachers of the school were equally shocked because alcoholic drinks were never discussed when preparing the menu with the organising committee.

He added that the matter had been reported to the Education Ministry and the Perak state education department for further investigation.

A member of the school’s Parent-Teacher Association confirmed that alcohol was served at the event but said the organisers were not involved.
