YOURSAY ‘Why didn't he order a probe on 1MDB over the WSJ report.’

PM wants Mara Melbourne scandal probed

Vijay47: Within a few days of each other, two foreign publications revealed instances of corruption by Malaysian officials and both, in line with our inimitable business astuteness, involved actually wanting to pay more than market value for acquisitions.

One report was by the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) which informed that certain power-producing ventures were bought by 1MDB at five times their value and the other by The Age, about the Dudley House purchased by Mara.

We now have PM Najib Razak uncharacteristically awakening from his slumber and threatening action against the Dudley House crooks.

Why this selective outrage, Najib? Why are you not equally concerned with the 1MDB acquisitions? Is it perhaps because one is close to your heart while the other, costing only RM13.7 million, is convenient fodder?

If you are really serious, which nobody believes you are, you would start an enquiry into every property purchase made overseas. Some very interesting actions by interesting actors would be unearthed. It is a sign of the ages?

Odin Tajué: This involves a deal of only RM65 million and the crooks in Mara pocketed a tiny sum of RM13.7 million.

Why have you said nothing about the billions of public funds stolen through purchasing an aging power plant at five times its market worth?

Compared to that, the sum involved here is chicken feed. Of course, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will probe the scam.

The commission is only interested in relatively small amounts. And whether anything will come out of its investigation, that is another matter altogether.

RCZ: Investigate what? The investigation has already been done and documents all recovered by the Australian police. Only thing now is suspend the crooks and charge them.

CQ Muar: More cats are out of the bag; more beans spilled. Thus, this goes to show how blatantly corrupted Umno leaders are, whether in government or their representatives and officers.

Right down from the prime minister to those down the line, it is indisputable and undeniable that the Umno-BN regime is corrupted to the core.

The rakyat of all races, be they Malays, Chinese and Indians, must take stock of such malpractices and mismanagement. The time has come for all to stand up, without fear or favour, against such misdeeds.

Sali Tambap: It's funny that the PM should ask that the Mara case should be probed over an Australian media report.

Indeed, why didn't he order a probe for 1MDB over the WSJ report that it made a purchase of an over-priced power plant and as a result another foundation, also under the PM control, received payback?

Dalvik: Yes, Najib, how I wished you have the same guts to 'call for investigation' on the WSJ report about the Genting's donation to Yayasan Rakyat 1Malaysia.

Justine Gow: The Bugis warrior is trying to use this scandal to divert attention from 1MDB. Why such a speedy response to the article in The Age, while a complete silence with regards to the WSJ report?

RKR: Where is Perkasa and Isma? Mara was formed to assist your brethren but it looks like your people are screwed by your own kind.

Please stop blaming other races for your downfall. Non-Malays have no intention to succeed at your expense. They are more than happy to prosper together with others as a nation.

Som Chai: Pakatan Rakyat should be blamed too for spreading false accusations against the government.

Zuki Zauji: Don’t speculate until this case is settled. What is your problem, Pakatan? Always making statements without facts.

Anonymous_1426565266: Som Chai and Zuki Zauji, the Australian media had been investigating this issue for eight months before they published it. How can you say that this is without fact?

The facts are there, it depends on whether MACC is serious in investigating them or not. If MACC is determined to nail down the culprit, I am very sure the Australians would love to reveal all the evidence to them.

By the way, why are you blaming the opposition over this matter? Just for the sake of supporting the ruling party regardless whether it is right or wrong? This is ridiculous.

I understand your desperate attempt to bury all genuine and sincere comments from real concerned Malaysians in Malaysiakini. Get a decent and legitimate job rather than being an apple polisher.

JD Lovrenciear: When the who's who tarnished the good name and honour of this nation, what were the guardians and watchdogs of government doing?

But when citizens walk the streets in peaceful protest to restore democratic justice, the whip cracks loud. Why shouldn't the voters get upset? -Mkini
