The prime minister of Malaysia, Datuk Seri Najib Razak is reported to have belted out before some 15,000 silat (Malay martial arts) practitioners at the Nation’s Independence Square (Dataran Merdeka) that “we are willing to die,” for the Najib’s government.
Now “willing to die” means blood is shed; it means lives are lost fighting others. Now who are the enemies that Najib wants Malays to do battle with? Is it the other Malays who are not with his government? Is it the Malaysian Chinese in the country? Or is it the Malaysian Indians? Or are we expecting some foreign enemy to bombard the country?
Pray can someone please allay all these fears that a prime minister of all persons is belting out.
Is not what the prime minister is reported to have said before a 15,000 gathering of Malays seditious? Is it not inciting a particular community to fight a nation of people just to ensure that that the Najib government retains power and control?
What if the Najib-led government loses in the coming General elections? Would Najib invoke Malays to die for the resurrection of Umno-Najib?
Now what will the global audience think about this nation and its leadership? Is it not detrimental to our national reputation and image?
How will investors interpret the prime minister of Malaysia’s belting out calling for that willingness to die for his government?
Shameful to ask the Malays to shed blood to save his political skin

On that same account, let us pause and ask the prime minister this question: what if a leader of the opposition political party or civil society leader says the same thing to an audience of Chinese or a gathering of Indians? Would it not be condemned by right thinking citizens and leaders?
The police chief as our righteous and honorable vanguard of public safety and national security needs to answer this question too. Is the prime minister not inciting undue suspicion and hatred among the countries multiracial population?
What do Malaysians think of this? Where are our learned, caring and concerned leaders and professionals and leaders of the various religions?
What do you think of what the prime minister is reported to have said to 15,000 martial arts exponents right here at Dataran Merdeka, the iconic space for all Malaysians – Chinese, Indians and Malays, to proudly unite for nation and king?
Frightening times

Indeed, we are experiencing frightening times. Never in the history of this nation have any of Najib’s predecessors asked a community of people to be willing to die for their political party that is given the mandate to form the government. We only die for our nation and in defense of our sovereign crown.
Mr. Honorable Prime Minister why do you sound so hollow and desperate? Are you the prime minister and leader for a nation of multicultural Malaysia or just a selct community that will die and kill to keep you in power?
Certainly, by any account as citizens who want a peace-loving nation that subscribes to harmony, clean and transparent governance, progress within sound, ethical frameworks and democracy, we deserve some clarification from none other than the prime minsiter himself for his speech tonight the 18th of September, 2015 at Dataran Merdeka. - MAILBAG
