Wasn’t Islam a victim at the racially charged rally?
FMT LETTERS

Why did the Prime Minister and his coterie commend the Red Shirts rally for standing up in defence of the seemingly ‘lost’ dignity of Umno-Malays?
Didn’t racially-charged rhetoric spew from the mouths of rally leaders supposedly to win back their dignity? Weren’t there calls at the rally injected with “jihad” and backed by so called religious justifications?
Weren’t rally goers provoked with all kinds of outrageous claims ─ from demands to dismantle native language schools to giving back the famed ‘Chinatown’ (Petaling Street) business district to the Malays?
Didn’t some use religion as a justification for their beliefs and actions? One speaker is quoted to have said that he is racist and that Islam allowed it. It must be noted that the Board of Directors of the Muslim Professionals Forum (MPF) has issued a statement abhorring such sinful claims by the Red Shirts leaders. In their press release they argued that “Islam abhors and rejects racism” and justified their statement with authoritative references in the form of various quotations from the Holy Quran and the Hadith.
It is time for the people of Malaysia especially good God fearing Muslims to ask their Malay, Muslim prime minister on what basis he congratulated the Red Shirts rally when Islam itself was the victim at the rally ─ tortured and desecrated by the rally leaders?
