KUALA LUMPUR - International Trade and Industry Deputy Minister Datuk Ahmad Maslan has lashed out against irresponsible parties who created a false Twitter account in his name to issue statements that raised the ire of the public.
Updates have been issued under the fake account on the recent hike in toll rates for highways in the Klang Valley.
Ahmad said that among the fake updates was one that had urged the public to use carts drawn by cows instead of cars if they did not want to pay for toll.
The Pontian Member of Parliament explained he had never issued such a statement.
“The people who are doing this are bankrupt of ideas.
“I have never issued such a stupid statement!” he said in his Twitter account today.
The Umno Communications chief has frequently fallen victim to fake Twitter accounts prior to this, especially relating to the Goods and Services Tax (GST) when he held the Deputy Finance Minister’s portfolio.
On July 1, Ahmad, on Twitter, was purported to have said that the people were not affected by the increase in RON 95 petrol prices.
Ahmad denied making the statement after it was widely shared on social media. - Therakyatpost
