KOTA KINABALU - Moyog assemblyman Terence Siambun will settle money owed to bank to avoid being declared a bankrupt.
In a text message to The Star, the 41-year-old first-time PKR assemblyman said, he would settle the matter “right away”.
“I think this is an old account that my previous business partner and I overlooked,” he said, adding that he had to meet with the bank officials to clear the matter.
Siambun will be declared a bankrupt if he fails to settle a RM53,400.09 loan taken from AmBank.
Under the notice published in a Sabah newspaper on Wednesday, Siambun has been ordered to pay the outstanding amount within seven days of the notice.
The amount due was based on a final judgement by the magistrates court on Nov 13, 2014 which has not been stayed or counter-claimed.
He defeated Barisan Nasional’s Upko candidate Philip Lasimbang in the 2013 General Election.
