The brother of late prosecutor Kevin Anthony was told to stop making public statements and instead lodge a police report over the statutory declaration (SD) he made.
"The point is, he (Charles Suresh Morais) has made an allegation, but we have not received any official report.
"He should lodge a report for the police to start investigation. Until that point of time, I suggest he stop making statements publicly," said Deputy Home Minister Nur Jazlan Mohamed.
Charles should not made such accusation unless he can back it up with a police report, he said, adding that the police could not act on mere “rumours”.
"Now, we treat it as a wild allegation," he said at the Parliament lobby.
"(Once he lodges a report,) the police will investigate," he said curtly.
In the SD, the younger brother of Kevin claimed a pen drive was sent to him before the latter was killed.
“It is in safe custody in the US with someone who has instructions to release it publicly should anything untoward happen to me for swearing this statutory declaration.
“The contents of this pen drive clearly and unequivocally reveal the investigation Kevin had been tasked with just before his untimely death, which implicates certain personalities who currently walk the corridors of power in Malaysia,” he had said.
Inspector-general of police Khalid Abu Bakar has asked Charles to provide the details contained in a pen drive on the investigations which the deputy public prosecutor was working on prior to his murder.
