Former Attorney-General (A-G) Tan Sri Abdul Gani Patail ‎turned up for a forum on Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma), organised by the Bar Council, for his first public speaking engagement since he was removed from his post in late July.
Gani will join Bar president Steven Thiru, lawyers Amer Hamzah Arshad and Andrew Khoo as moderator for the discussion, titled "Sosma – Wolf in Sheep's Clothing?" that is being held at the Raja Aziz Addruse Auditorium at the Straits Trading Building in Kuala Lumpur.

Gani, who served as A-G for 13 years from 2003, was removed abruptly from office on July 27 while he was part of the multi-agency special task force investigating 1MDB and the US$700 million (RM2.6 billion) channeled into the private accounts of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak.
Some 150 people packed the auditorium in anticipation of Gani's speech and for him to make public his stand on the controversial law that was crafted to prevent terrorism, but was recently used against two critics of government-owned state investment firm 1Malaysia Development Bhd.
Gani was accompanied by the other speakers as he made his way into the packed hall.‎
A hushed silence followed his entrance into the auditorium, as photographers and others clamoured for an opportunity to take a picture of the elusive former A-G, who has yet to break his silence over his removal from his position.
Gani is set to be the last speaker in tonight's forum, after Steven and Amer.
