Lim: Sue me, but I have to say, GST is truly 'celaka'

DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng has slammed the Goods and Services Tax (GST) as a "celaka" (wretched) tax and says it should be abolished.
He said although he might be sued in court for saying so, he will not be stopped from saying this.
"First off, we have to abolish GST. Don't you agree? GST is 'celaka', and a 'celaka' GST needs to be abolished.
"I know if I say GST is 'celaka', maybe he might sue me, he might haul me to court," quipped Lim, possibly referring to Prime Minister Najib Razak.
"But never mind, charge me lah, 'celaka' it truly is, this 'celaka' GST," said the Penang chief minister at the party's Wanita conference today.
Letting people go bankrupt
Lim said Najib had no choice but to levy the GST to make up for various scandals including the debt-ridden 1MDB.
"1MDB has caused the federal government to burden the people with the GST, so the people have to pay more taxes to the government.
"If not for GST, the federal government would be bankrupt.
"Luckily they implemented the GST to save the BN government, so they would not go bankrupt.
"But to save the BN government, he (Najib) was willing to see the Malaysian people go bankrupt instead," said the CM. -Mkini
