Second post-mortem on Kevin Morais needed, says brother

A brother of slain deputy public prosecutor Kevin Morais said he wanted a second post-mortem conducted on the deceased because the outcome of the first procedure was vague.
The stated cause of death was probable suffocation, Charles Morais said today, and this would have got the case against those charged with Kevin's murder thrown out.
"The cause of death is a one liner, 'probable suffocation'. There were no marks in the body.
Six men have been charged with Kevin's murder, while pathologist Dr R. Kunasegaran‎ has been charged with abetment.
Kevin's body was found in a cement-filled steel drum in a swamp in Taman Subang Mewah in USJ 1, Subang Jaya, 12 days after his abduction on September 4.
Charles said concerns that the vague findings of the first porter report was the reason he filed an application in court on Monday for a second procedure.
Unknown to Charles, however, was that his brother Datuk Richard Morais, had on the same day claimed Kevin's body from the Kuala Lumpur Hospital mortuary without telling any family member.
The High Court has fixed December 4 for case management of Charles's application to conduct the second post mortem.
Charles said he was very surprised that the authorities at the KL Hospital and the police appeared to have been complicit in allowing Kevin's body to be removed from the mortuary by Richard when they were both fully aware that he (Charles) wanted a second post-mortem to be conducted.
Charles today told the media that Richard was a "crook" and would do anything for money.
In an 18-page statutory declaration (SD) that he produced at the press conference today, Charles also alleged that Richard had become associated with the underworld in Kuala Lumpur.
Charles' SD also stated that Richard had been seen leaving the scene of the Najadi murder at Bukit Ceylon in July 2013 and the the IGP wanted to know what Kevin knew about this.
"Kevin informed the IGP that he had not been in contact with Richard since 2004 and knew nothing of this," he said.
The Najadi murder is the killing of AmBank founder Hussain Ahmad Najadi in July 2013. Police say the case is closed after the conviction of car repossessor Koong Swee Kwan, who is now on death row.
