After a rape threat, G25 spokesman Datuk Noor Farida Ariffin has now received another threat to harm her posted on social media, she told Star Online.
She said the message, which included the phrase “darah orang sebegini adalah halal” (the blood of this kind of person is permissible) was brought to her attention by someone else.
The advocate for moderation in Islam described it as a message of the "Isis terrorists" mentality.
At a G25 public forum earlier this month, Noor Farida had spoken about the need to review shariah laws that interfered in Muslims' personal lives. She had cited “khalwat” (close proximity between the opposite sex) laws as an example.
Her remarks led to condemnation by a Facebook user Shahrul Nizam Ab Rahim, who said he wanted to break into her home, lie on her bed and "try" her.
Penang DAP women leaders have lodged a police report against the rape threat.
Noor Farida, however, is under investigation for sedition after police reports were lodged against her for her remarks on shariah law.
“For the rape threat I lodged, I am still waiting for police action," she was quoted saying by Star Online today.
Malacca police chief Datuk Chuah Ghee Lye, who had previously confirmed sedition investigations into Noor Farida, today also told the news portal that the probe was into the forum where she had spoken and other speakers might be called for questioning as well.
Noor Farida yesterday said she would cooperate with the police.
