The director of the Johor Wildlife and Natural Parks Department (Perhilitan) has been arrested for allegedly stealing a 100-year-old rhinoceros horn from the Johor Royal Museum, The Star Online reported.
Johor police chief Datuk Wan Ahmad Najmuddin Mohd said the 46-year-old suspect committed the offence on October 21, when he attended a meeting with the Johor Tourism Department.
The suspect decided to remove the artefact, which was being aired under the sun at the museum office in Bukit Timbalan, Johor.
CCTVs recording clearly showed the suspect (removing) the horn,” Wan Ahmad was quoted as saying.
The suspect was detained after he surrendered at the Johor Baru Sentral police at 9.40pm yesterday.
The report, however, did not state which law the offence was committed or whether the suspect was remanded for further investigation.
