UMNO AGM Umno vice president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi in his comment today may well have compared the party’s deputy president Muhyiddin Yassin to a one of the pieces of rope that hold a raft together.
Zahid, in commenting on matters related to Muhyiddin, said the party’s unity was like that of the pieces of rope that hold a raft together.
“The pieces of rope should not be severed. Even though there may be some pieces that are severed, let those pieces of rope be swept away by the current.
“But (what’s important) is that the raft doesn’t submerge in the water,” Zahid said at a press conference at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC), where the party’s annual general assembly is being held.
Asked to explain the meaning behind his words, the deputy prime minister and home minister told the reporters present to “make their own interpretation”.
The piece of rope that was ‘severed’ was seen by those present as a reference to Muhyiddin, with the raft being Umno, the party.
